Having rescued one animal isn't enough. Just as summer has started, thousands upon thousands of cats are having thousands more unwanted kittens, whom will get bad families, or die of starvation and disease. So many more cats and dogs are being abandoned (which is against the law) by college students, on the streets and to unwilling neighbors. Right now, cats and dogs and rabbits and ferrets and birds and filling the shelters to the brim and most are going to be put down because no one has room for another pet in their house.

It is so unfair to all of those female kitties giving birth to kittens she can't take care of, to whom all will die, it's unfair that human beings, with easily accessible and easily affordable spaying and neutering at all veterinaries and shelters still claim ignorant of the ever growing problem of unwanted pets. Every year, 5 million catas and dogs die of euthanisation, but frighteningly, more than 112.6 million die in laboratory testing every year. That doesn't mention the fur and meat industry.

I believe that as humans, we have the responsibilities to look after the earth and all of its creatures. I also believe that with our intelligence and resources that human beings don't ever have the right to hurt or neglect that animals we forced into our society. It's not their fault - it's ours - and we must deal with the consequences of our actions, or we are damming ourselves with the sins of false innocence. "The Veil of Ignorance" has been lifted, and the truth is, it is the duty of every human being to be compassionate, understanding, loving, and caring to all of the earth, and all of the animals and people on it.
